Car Maintenance Tips to Prevent Expensive Repairs
Car maintenance is not everyone’s forte, but everyone should know some helpful tips to prevent expensive auto repairs. The thing is, if you don’t do regular preventative maintenance, something will eventually go wrong that was avoidable. This video explains the top tips to keep your car running well for years to come.
The first thing you need to do is change your engine oil every 3,000 miles, or twice a year. Engines are expensive compared to oil, and the oil is the lifeblood of your engine. In particular, old oil can clog valves on your engine and cost you thousands of dollars to fix. If you want to lessen the amount of maintenance you do, you can invest in more expensive but longer-lasting synthetic oil.
The second thing to do is to service your transmission on a regular basis. Transmission fluid should be changed every 30,000 miles. If your car has a filter for transmission fluid, make sure you change this regularly, too. More recent models may use synthetic transmission fluid and do not require any oil changes (unless you live in a dusty desert).
